Why is it that people keep bringing up the Bible when I criticise bs in the Qur'an?

I've been reading my Qur'an since yesterday, and it hasn't failed yet: As soon as anybody to whom I mention evil or inaccurate teachings in the Qur'an hears me, they have immediately started going on about how "The Bible is just as bad", and don't seem to want to understand that I completely agree with that statement. Anybody else annoyed by this tendency?
